Mac Remote Installation

NetRestore install Mac system image through network. The following are the steps:

1. Boot up from an external HD to the source machine. Open NetRestore Helper and create a master image of the source HD, This will be an ImageName.dmg file.

2. Copy the ImageName.dmg in Share Items/Image folder on the server.

3. Using Create NetInstall Set with NetRestore Helper and save the created .nbi folder in Library/Netboot/NetBootSP0 directory.

4. Open NetRestore/configurations/Configuration Manager and enter the information of the image location for the client to boot and save the configuration as shown:

5. Open Workgroup Manager, create a user called “Imaging” and give the user read permission to the share point, ”Images”.

6. On Server Admin, enable AFP, NFS protocols, setup Netboot service and enable the image under “Images” tab.

7. In the server "Settings" click on Access tab and choose "Allow all users and groups".

8. Boot up a client with “N” key down. The client launches NetRestor. Choose the image to restore. If everything goes well, the net install has succeeded!
